Today in Tiger Time, students from Mrs. Boggs’s class played with fire! These students chose to read Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451 over Christmas break. They came back and passed a test over the book with at least 80% accuracy.
Mr. McCollom set up an engaging lesson over the combustion point of different materials. This was such a fun way to celebrate the hard work that these students elected to do.

Lakeview Middle School is committed to recognizing the unsung heroes of our school resource officer (SRO) team, in honor of National School Resource Officer Appreciation Day on February 15th.
These highly trained law enforcement officers play an integral role in promoting community-oriented policing, working collaboratively with schools to ensure safety and security.
It's an opportune moment to express our gratitude to our SROs, recognizing their impact in connecting with young individuals and bridging the gap between law enforcement and the community.
As mentors, educators, and enforcers, they serve a unique and invaluable role in the education community. Let's take this opportunity to show our appreciation for their hard work, ensuring the safety of our schools and students.
Join us in recognizing the efforts of our SRO team.
Todd Braddock, Lakeview Middle School Principal shared, “ Officer Lewis Fuller has many excellent qualities that I appreciate as the building principal. He is dependable, trustworthy, and solution focused. Not only does he help keep our school safe, he builds positive relationships with our students through his warm and friendly demeanor. Often times, Officer Fuller goes above and beyond what is expected out of him in his role. This makes him an integral part of our wonderful team here at LMS. I couldn't imagine doing this job without Officer Fuller in the SRO role.”

Mr. Weaver's Automation & Robotics classes are learning how to program robots to "see" the world around them, to control the logic, and produce outputs. #experienceWCS
Mr. McCollom's students have been working on DNA structure, replication and protein synthesis. The 7th grade students made DNA models with Twislers, marshmallows and toothpicks. They used the models to explain DNA nucleotides, hydrogen bonds and double helix. The Biology students made DNA models and explained structures such as purines, pyrimidines, 5 prime to 3 prime and nucleotides. #ExperienceLakeview #ExperienceWCS #McCollom #Science

Honoring School Counselors: National School Counseling Week 2024
Mark your calendars! From February 5th to 9th, the National School Counseling Week 2024 will take place, and this year's theme is "School Counseling: Standards-Based, Student-Focused." It's time to celebrate the remarkable work of our school counselors in unlocking the potential of our students.
Today, we recognize Emily Day from Lakeview Middle School, whose unwavering commitment has helped students explore their unique gifts, talents and passions. She serves as a beacon of hope for parents navigating the challenges of raising children in today's world. Emily's dedication to fostering positivity and nurturing academic, career, and social/emotional growth in students, while working with teachers to create a conducive learning environment, is truly commendable. Our gratitude extends to Emily and all the outstanding school counselors for their invaluable contributions to our team.
Todd Braddock shared, “Emily Day is a vital member of our office team. She wears many hats and juggles numerous responsibilities in her role as a guidance counselor and school counselor. This is an incredible responsibility to manage, yet Emily continues to perform her job at a high level every day putting the needs of students first and foremost. We are incredibly lucky to have a guidance counselor the caliber of Emily Day and we are thankful she is a part of our wonderful team here at Lakeview Middle School.”

Discover Future Opportunities!
It's that time of year again! As students prepare to select their classes for the following year, they are given a unique opportunity to get a sneak peek of what each class will involve. This is made possible through the WCHS/WACC Academic Showcase & 8th Grade Orientation "Open House" event, where teachers open up their classrooms to visitors and offer a glimpse into the students' work, giving an idea of what the class may be like.
