Hispanic Heritage Month, which runs from September 15 to October 15, is a time to recognize the rich cultural history, language, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities. This month-long celebration is especially important at Lakeview Middle School with our Dual-language Immersion program, where we broaden students' horizons by embracing diverse perspectives and experiences.
We have an amazing team at Lakeview Middle School. Our students are given the opportunity to better appreciate multilingualism and multicultural understanding, helping them value how different cultures contribute to society. By learning about Hispanic heritage, students gain a deeper respect for cultural diversity and the significant roles Hispanic individuals have played in shaping the world around us. This month is not only about celebration but also about fostering inclusivity, one of the WCS pillars.
Today, we are featuring Senora Burns:
"Hola! My name is Senora Burns. I'm from Argentina, and I'm teaching 7th grade this year for the DLI program. This is my 9th year teaching for Warsaw Community Schools.
I'm passionate about inspiring students to embrace the language and different cultures with enthusiasm. I love helping them to connect with the language and culture in meaningful ways."
I'm sharing some pictures of my DLI Spanish 3 classes. They have been working on getting to know each other and learning about our identity, where we come from, who we are, etc. I have a lot of students from different countries/cultures, and we have been learning from each other a lot. In these pictures they are playing Human Bingo in Spanish.

The Kosciusko Youth Leadership Academy started the Lakeview food pantry in March.
They saw a need within the community and wanted to make a difference.
Bags of food are available for all Lakeview students in need!
There is a Google form for students to fill out if they have food or clothing needs.
See Mrs. Day (School Counselor) Mrs. Wagner (School Nurse).
Lakeview plans to continue the food pantry and add hygiene products to the clothing closet this year!
We can always use donations from the community!

Lakeview Middle School principal Mr. Braddock is a leader who leads by example!
Today, he jumped into action by joining our Health and PE classes, showing us all how to make the most of the incredible resources we have at and around Lakeview.
His hands-on approach and willingness to engage with staff and students make him a standout leader.
Whether he's in the classroom or on the channel, Mr. Braddock is always ready to support and inspire.
Thank you Nikki Wood & Bryan Brumbaugh for making this possible with the help of Lakeview PTO & Winona Lake Dept.
We're grateful to have such an energetic and dedicated principal guiding our school!

A HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who contributed to the Hope and Hygiene Foundation this month!
Lakeview Middle School’s NJHS students took the lead on this important service project, filling boxes with hygiene items that will soon be delivered to local homeless organizations.
We would also like to extend a special thank you to the dedicated students of WCHS for their help in collecting these much-needed items. Your collaboration reflects the incredible strength of our community and the power of working together for a common cause.
At Lakeview, we believe in teaching empathy and compassion through action. This project has not only provided essential supplies to those in need but has also helped our students understand the importance of giving back and caring for others. Every donation is a reminder of the positive impact we can make when we come together to support those who need it most.
Thank you again to everyone who made this possible—you’re all inspiring change and helping to build a kinder, more compassionate world.

Kicking Off the School Year with Gratitude and Appreciation!
We had an amazing start to the school year! yesterday, staff enjoyed a delicious breakfast generously provided by our fantastic Lakeview PTO! Their dedication and support make such a difference, and we are incredibly grateful for all they do to make our school a better place. Thank you, Lakeview PTO, for being truly amazing!
We also want to take a moment to recognize and appreciate Jean Beeson, our incredible tech guru who retired this summer after decades of dedicated service to Lakeview Middle School. Jean’s expertise, kindness, and unwavering commitment to our students and staff have left an indelible mark on our school community. She will be deeply missed, and we wish her all the best in her well-deserved retirement.
A special thank you goes out to Laura Biltz from our front office, who generously donated beautiful flowers from her garden to brighten up our library, classrooms, and offices. Your thoughtful gesture has added a wonderful touch of warmth and color to our spaces, Laura. Thank you for your kindness!
Yesterday's empty hallways are now filled with our new 7th graders and with our 8th graders who are already impressing us with their helpfulness & kindness!
