Mr. Rhodes' 5th graders have been completing a mock government project. They learned about the 3 branches of government and their checks and balances. There was a presidential primary (with a town hall style debate) to get it down to 2 candidates and then those candidates gave speeches and had a full debate. Student voted on president and vice president. Each section of the classroom is a state, 3 total states. They elected 2 senators each to create our congress. The first law passed last week was to create classroom jobs. President Wesson signed it into law on Friday and they have had class jobs since. President Wesson appointed Supreme Court Justices and congress will vote on them soon before our final Mock Government. They have also been learning about the White House and Capitol Building. Student are creating an Executive Residence for Rhodeslandia on the CAD program. Their reading lessons have been learning more about how to write a bill, the history of the Capitol Building and White House, and fiction scenarios for students to practice writing bills and debating.

Next week, we’ll be celebrating the incredible team of educators and staff who make our school a warm, welcoming, and inspiring place for students every day.
From classroom teachers to office staff, support personnel, and everyone in between — they all play a vital role in your child’s learning journey. We’ve planned a week of special treats and surprises to show them just how much they’re appreciated! 🎉
We invite you to join us in saying thank you! A kind note, a drawing from your child, or just a few words of appreciation can go a long way in making someone’s day.
Thank you for partnering with us to lift up the people who make our school shine! #WarsawInspires
