We are excited to announce that our Physical Education program is expanding to include a Canoeing and Water Safety unit! This hands-on unit will give students valuable experience on the water, teaching them not only canoeing skills but also essential safety practices and teamwork.

To make this vision a reality, we are reaching out to our school community for help.

If your family owns a canoe/two-seat kayak that is no longer being used or is only lightly used, we would be incredibly grateful if you would consider donating it to the school.

Your donated canoe would directly benefit our students by:

Enhancing outdoor education and physical fitness,
Teaching real-world water safety skills,
Supporting teamwork and confidence-building activities.
If you are interested in donating, or have any questions about the program, please contact Bryan Brumbaugh at bbrumbaugh@warsawschools.org or through ParentSquare.

We can also assist with transportation or pickup of the canoe/kayak if needed.

Thank you for your continued support in helping us provide meaningful and memorable learning experiences for our students!

Today, Mrs. Studebaker’s class enjoyed their library special with a focus on Hispanic Heritage Month and a very exciting launch of their new class read: The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton!

Students got the chance to step into the world of the novel by dressing like a Soc or a Greaser, making the kickoff both fun and memorable.

Kudos to all the students who participated and to our incredible ELA 7 team for creating such an engaging enrichment opportunity!

Today students in Mrs. Boggs's classes spent the first five minutes chalking a positive message on the sidewalk outside of her classroom. A central theme in our ELA department at Lakeview is the power of words. Students spent time in class discussing the impact of a compliment and the impact of a put down, then headed outside to put some compliments on the sidewalk! We have the power to positively impact our peers with words of encouragement!

This week, we were honored to have our School Resource Officer, Officer Roberts, visit the 7th Grade Health classes for an important discussion on mental health and coping skills as a part of the LEVEL UP Program here at WCS.

Officer Roberts led meaningful conversations with students about recognizing and managing stress, the value of taking care of our mental well-being, and how to support ourselves and each other. Together, we explored strategies like:

🧘‍♂️ Breathing Techniques to calm the mind and body;
🗣️ Positive Self-Talk to build confidence and resilience;
🤝 Recognizing when to ask for help, supporting friends in need, and Resources available to students.

The students were engaged, thoughtful, and walked away with practical tools they can use every day. We’re grateful to Officer Roberts for making a difference—not just in safety, but in supporting all students.

Mrs. Metler's "get to know you" activity for 8th grade students is a BIO POEM. Students write about their likes, fears, and family. They were given an example. Students include pictures and follow a formula. This is great way for the class to build community as they learn about one another and kick start the year with this creative activity.
