Dual Language Immersion
Dual Language Immersion at Lakeview
In 2023–2024, Warsaw Community Schools expanded the Dual Language Immersion program to the middle school level.
In middle school, students in the Dual Language Immersion (DLI) program build on what they learned in elementary school while continuing toward high school and college-level opportunities through two Spanish courses each year.
In 7th grade, students take DLI Spanish 3, a full-year dual credit high school course, along with DLI Culture, History and Media (CHM). This course helps prepare them for the AP Spanish assessment they will take as freshmen, which is typically taken as a junior or senior.
In 8th grade, students continue with DLI Spanish 4, another full-year dual credit high school course, and a second section of DLI Culture, History and Media. Each section focuses on a different time period, helping students strengthen their literacy, communication and presentation skills in Spanish.
The DLI experience continues into high school, where students move into advanced Spanish and cultural studies courses designed to prepare them for AP Spanish and college-level coursework.
Students who stay on the DLI pathway can graduate with more than 20 college credits, earn a minor in Spanish and receive the Indiana Certificate of Multilingual Proficiency, setting them up with strong bilingual skills and real opportunities beyond high school.
Secondary: 7th-12th Model
